HEAD VETERINARIAN / Practice Manager & OWNER – CHRIS LAURENSON (BVSC)

Dr. Chris, the principal veterinarian and proud owner of Normanby Road Vet Clinic, brings over four decades of expertise to the care of your beloved furry and feathered companions. From Southland to Scotland, Chris has treated an incredible variety of animals, including farm livestock, racehorses, cherished domestic pets, and fascinating exotic creatures. His journey in veterinary medicine began with the founding of Vets at Jansens in 1992, and he established Normanby Road Vet Clinic in 2006.Chris's commitment to animal welfare extends beyond his clinic walls. He has been involved in the Companion Animal Society, a branch of the NZ Veterinary Association, and continues to contribute his vast knowledge and leadership as an executive member of the Auckland Veterinary Society.

VETERINARIAN – DR KV (BVMCH) 

Originally from South Africa, KV started working with Dr Chris at The Vets at Jansens soon after her arrival in New Zealand. She stayed on when the business changed hands and after 15 years there and then at Animates, she re-joined Dr Chris at Normanby Rd in 2018.

Her outstanding reputation with clinic pets and their owners is a testament to her dedication and personalized care. With KV, you can be assured that your pets are in the hands of a truly passionate and devoted veterinarian.

VETERINARIAN – DR Kenneth Choo (BVSC)

Dr Kenneth came to the clinic in 2024 after the completion of his Vet studies at Massey University School of Veterinary Science. He is under the guidance of Chris and KV while he develops his level of experience.  Originally from Singapore, Dr Kenneth has impressed us with his dedication to our pets and their owners fitting in nicely with the standards we have set over the years.

RECEPTION – Rachel and Netty

Our two experienced Vet receptions are the frontline for all clients whether on the phone or in person.  They will ensure you get the right assistance with your query or appointment. They can assist with your choice of pet foods, parasite treatments, and accessories. Rachel joined us in 2022 and recent arrival Nettie came to us after a long history with Barkley Manor.

VETERINARY NURSES

Our Head Surgical Nurse is Zyra Griffiths (DVN) who graduated from UCOL in 2019.  She brings passion and care to the animals of this clinic. Zyra is a cat lover and an avid reader and tv show watcher in her spare time. Zyra has a beautiful ragdoll called Atticus who you may get the chance to meet as he hangs out at the clinic often.

Shannon Blake is our Nurse Assistant having completed her Veterinary Nurse Diploma  DVN from  Otago  Polytech  . Shannon  has been   with  us   since  Oct  2022    She has a keen interest in surgical and hospital care.

CATTERY MANAGER

Vanessa manages the day to day running of Catmandu Cattery in Whenuapai and is in constant liaison with the Vet Clinic.  She has two cats now as has taken on a rehomed cat.  Vanessa is assisted by Hayley and Bella.  Your feline is in good hands with our cattery team.
